Chartreuse is a colour halfway between green and yellow. It freshens and modernizes a space. It reminds of of the colour of fresh grass and new leaves. It is uplifting and optimistic.

Here are some bookshelves that my very talented husband made for our home.
Using Bold Colour
You may love bold colour but are afraid to use it. A room would be very overwhelming if you were to paint it bright orange. Blocks of bold colour have a lot more impact in a space. If you following the 60/30/10 rule design rule you can’t go wrong. 60% of your colour scheme should from one colour family (usually most people will pick a neutral such as gray, creams, browns, taupes, beiges). 30% can be from another colour family and 10% would be your bold colour. An example of different types of colour families would be warm colours versus cool colours. This keeps your decorating scheme in balance.
Stencilling instead of wallpapering
I love the idea of stencilling a focal wall. It is inexpensive and easier to change if you grow tired of it. They have some great stencils at www.oliveleafstencils.com. Check it out.
