Another Staging Project

I just finished this big project of updating a house for sale. We repainted the entire main floor, replaced the lighting and hardware. We had to rent furniture for the living room as it was very outdated. There were many challenges along the way. The homeowner did not want to paint any of the oak trim or cupboards so I picked warm paint colours that would make the rooms look bigger and more spacious. I think the end product accomplished that.

Living Room Before

The walls were originally mauve to match the big purple sofa. We repainted the walls in Benjamin Moore Bleeker Beige.

The front porch was very dark with very badly bent blinds and dark panelling.  We painted the panelling with Benjamin Moore Revere Pewter.

It was a big project but what a difference.  With the updates the home now looks bright, cozy and welcoming.

Decorating with Starfish

I love any accessories that remind me of the beach and summer. Here is some inspiration.

Big Puffy Furniture

I have noticed a lot lately that people buy really huge furniture and shove it into tiny little rooms.  It makes the rooms look so small and cramped.  If you are shopping for new furniture it really pays off to have a floor plan drafted up and plan the room ahead of time.  You might not even need to buy new furniture, maybe just edit a few pieces.  A small scaled couch and chair is just as comfy and inviting.

In a house I am staging right now there was a huge puffy purple couch and chair that was impossible to get out of the room. It had these giant purple pillows on the top that kept popping up as we were trying to move the couch out to bring in rented furniture. The bottom had recliners that kept popping out as well.  Yikes!

Would your rather have this sofa or the next one?

Country House Virtual Update

This is a redesign concept board I created for a home which is now listed for sale. I wanted perspective buyers to see what the home could look like. The house is out-of-town and would suit a modern fresh country look. New classic white kitchen cupboards and white french doors in the dining area would add a lot of character.

This is how the kitchen looks now, not a lot of character and very dark looking.

In the living room built-in book cases and a fireplace would look great. wainscoting in the dining room would add a classic touch.

This is how the living room and dining room look now.

Do you need some inspiration for your home. I offer a virtual redesign service and can create a virtual redesign for your room or rooms.

The redesign plan would include a redesign concept board to help you and a list of recommended paint colours, window coverings, lighting, floor coverings and accessories. You will also receive a list of recommended products and suppliers.

I can also help you with your redesign by preparing a 3D floor plan for your room to help you plan the furniture layout.

If you would like more information you can email me at lalonded@yahoo.ca.

Modern Farmhouse Style

I love the mix of classic old and new items mixed together to create a warm, bright and refreshing home. The new modern farmhouse style is not frilly and cutesy. There are no rules just using what you love. Mixing old with new can never be boring!

Reclaimed Wood

Reclaimed wood adds warmth, character and looks beautiful when mixed with glass and stone.  I like the thought of injecting some history into a new home as a lot of reclaimed lumber is repurposed from barns, factories and warehouses.
